Sensational Learning Centre is a UNICEF UK Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) Bronze: Rights Committed School

We are delighted that our Sensational Learning Centre is now a UNICEF UK Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) Bronze: Rights Committed School. This accreditation demonstrates our commitment to embedding children’s rights across the school.

The application involved gathering and submitting evidence to demonstrate our commitment to embedding children’s rights across the school all aspects of school life, and this was approached as a whole-school initiative. A dedicated RRSA Working Group was established to lead the initiative and teachers embedded children’s rights into classroom practice. Pupils shared their views in a variety of ways, including discussions in group sessions and completing individual questionnaires.

This work has increased awareness and understanding of children’s rights among both colleagues and pupils, as well as helping to strengthen relationships and promote wellbeing.

Pupils are more confident in expressing their views and understand that their voices are valued. This has supported stronger participation and engagement in school life. The pupil council will be heavily involved as we work towards our Silver award.

Angela Evans, Head of Learning Services, said, “We are incredibly proud to have achieved the RRSA Bronze Award, which reflects our deep commitment to placing children’s rights at the heart of everything we do. This journey has already had a positive impact across our school, empowering our pupils to confidently use their voice and helping to nurture a respectful, inclusive and supportive community. It has been inspiring to see both colleagues and pupils embrace this shared language of rights, and we are excited to build on this strong foundation as we continue our journey towards Silver.
