Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming representatives from the Deacons Court in Linlithgow for a special visit centred around one of the town’s most cherished events — the Linlithgow Marches.
The Provost and Baillies delivered an engaging and insightful presentation to children, young people, and trainees across our services. With energy and enthusiasm, they brought the rich history and vibrant traditions of the Marches to life, sharing the unique roles they play in this annual celebration. From its historical origins to the key moments of the modern-day procession, their talk offered a meaningful glimpse into a tradition that continues to bring our community together each year.
This year’s visit held particular significance, as 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the Deacons Court’s stewardship of the Riding of the Marches — a major milestone that promises a spectacular programme of anniversary events. Our guests shared an exciting preview of what’s to come, building anticipation for what is sure to be a memorable celebration for the entire town.
As part of their visit, the Deacons Court also presented us with a School Award — a thoughtful gesture that highlights our ongoing connection with the Linlithgow community and our continued involvement in this beloved tradition.
We are sincerely grateful to the Provost and Baillies for their time, passion, and dedication to preserving and promoting community spirit. Their visit was both educational and inspiring for everyone who attended.
With renewed excitement, we look forward to joining the Marches procession once again this year and taking part in the festivities that honour Linlithgow’s rich heritage.
