About The Trust

The Donaldson Trust is governed by the Board of Trustees and is a registered charity (SCO17417) regulated by the Scottish Charity Regulator OSCR (see regulatory).

The Trust has been through several changes over recent years therefore the Board of Trustees have recently reviewed its charitable purpose to reflect its plans for the future strategic direction of The Trust.

The Donaldson Trust’s purpose is

to promote and encourage children and young people with additional support needs to realise their potential.

The Donaldson Trust is located in Linlithgow, where all the Trust’s services currently operate from including:


OSCR is a Non-Ministerial Department and part of the Scottish Administration following commencement of the Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005.  They are the independent regulator and registrar for over 24, 000 Scottish charities including community groups, religious charities, schools, universities, grant-given charities and major care providers.  Their work as Regulator ultimately supports public confidence in charities and their work is aimed at his and reinforcing public trust in charities.

In reporting to them and meeting legal requirements, The Donaldson Trust demonstrates to the public that assets are properly accounted for and that it is run properly,
