Donaldson's is Scotland's national school for pupils who are deaf or have communication difficulties.
British Sign Language (BSL) is the first or preferred language of many Deaf people in the UK. It is a language of space and movement using the hands, body, face and head. Many hearing people also use BSL, meaning it is used more than Welsh or Gaelic.
The Programme of BSL Courses that we will be running during 2012-2013 are:
This class is for anyone who wishes to learn the basics of British Sign Language, no previous experience is necessary. Certified by Donaldson's School this weekly 2 hour class runs for 10 weeks, and is delivered by a qualified BSL Tutor. The class fee is £150 in total. However it has been approved by ILA Scotland for funding should applicants be eligible.

This class is designed for students who have completed Donaldson's Introduction to British Sign Language course or have a basic facility with BSL. Fully accredited by Signature this weekly 2.5hr class runs for 26 weeks in total, and is delivered by a qualified BSL Tutor. Students will be able to communicate with Deaf people and BSL users using simple everyday language over a range of common topics.
The fee for this course is £370, this price includes all course and examination fees. Please note that this course has been approved by ILA Scotland and you may be eligible for funding. Download the course application form for further information.
