Donaldson's is Scotland's national school for pupils who are deaf or have communication difficulties.
The staff who work in our residence are all qualified and registered and their interaction with the residents is based on sensitivity and respect for the individual. Each residential pupil has a key worker who is helps them make sure they get a level of care that is right for them, as well as helping them to make friends and learn independence. The key worker is also a point of contact for families.
The care team are very aware of the Curriculum for Excellence, and work in close partnership with the teachers and specialists within the school. This ensures that the care plans reflect and support the development of the skills required to become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens, and effective contributors.
This joint planning and close working is essential in order that the highest standards of care are delivered.
"Staff were exceptionally skilled at communicating with the children/young people and spent time listening to and responding to their ideas and suggestions"
