"Staff and managers encourage the participation of service users and their families to a good level in assessing and improving all aspects of their care at Donaldson's"
Care Inspectorate Report, June 2012
Donaldson's Lodge is our residential facility catering for pupils from all over Scotland and the north of England. Our modern accommodation is designed with the specific needs of our pupils in mind and sits in a woodland location at the rear of the campus offering magnificent views of the surrounding countryside.
Accommodation is provided weekly at Donaldson's Lodge throughout term times for pupils who may live far from Donaldson's or pupils seeking to develop their communication and social skills in an approrpriate residential setting. Donaldson's Lodge can also provide help with managing behavioural difficulties, regulating sleep patterns and can be used for emergency respite care.
We offer a range of flexible options, from full-time residential placements from Monday to Friday to part-time respite facilities. Families are always welcome to visit the Lodge to see the facilities and to visit their children. Most admissions follow a short residential assessment visit that allows the young person to get to know us.
The Lodge is registered with Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (SCSWIS), who are known as the Care Inspectorate, and can accommodate up to 24 pupils across three residences. Children are encouraged to interact and share the facilities under the guardianship of a team of fully qualified care staff who organise activities including swimming, BBQs, skating, drama classes, bowling, local library visits, football tournaments, snooker, arts and crafts and many more.
SCSWIS Inspection Reports provide evidence of the good work and investment we place in our residential service, the residential pupils and the care staff. Please visit our Inspection Reports page to view a full copy of the reports.
