Donaldson's is a grant aided residential and day school for children and young people who are deaf, hard of hearing or who have a communication disorder.

Although the children and young people have a wide range of strengths and abilities, their complex additional support needs can act as barriers to all aspects of their learning and life.  We provide 24 hour learning and living experiences for children aged from 5 to 18 years over 39 weeks of the year.

We are seeking a highly motivated and flexible individual, who can provide support at all levels for a diverse group of residents in a bilingual environment (English and British Sign Language (BSL)), whilst holding specific key working responsibilities for a particular number of young people.

Previous experience of working with children with complex needs/social and emotional behavioural difficulties (SEBD) and/or Deafness and signing would be an advantage.

Our Residential team works closely with our Educational staff to support our young people over 24 hours in delivering the 'Curriculum for Excellence'.

You should already be registered, or be prepared to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of employment. If you are conditionally registered, you must be currently undertaking qualifications necessary to achieve full registration.

Night Awake Worker

Donaldson's require a Night Worker who will monitor, check and record the comfort and security and provide assistance to either the resident group or individuals who require 1-1 support throughout the night and early morning hours.  There will be additional input towards the general wellbeing of all pupils.

VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES

We have no volunteering opportunities available within our Education or Care Departments.

Donaldson's School, however, relies heavily on donations to support our work with children and young people who are deaf or have communication difficulties. We are looking to recruit volunteers who would be willing to help with fundraising events both within and outwith the School.
