Meet the Team

Whilst The Donaldson Trust is governed by the Board of Trustees, the management of The Donaldson Trust is the responsibility of the Head Office Team.

The Head Office Team consists of:

Laura Battles
Laura BattlesChief Executive Officer
Laura is a highly qualified leader offering more than 20 years’ experience in the field of organisational leadership and management both within the United Kingdom and internationally.

She has significant experience of galvanising the potential, leading, motivating and mentoring young people and talented staff as well as achieving strategic goals and organisational improvement.

Laura has worked in the field of additional support needs for most of her career and understands the successes and complexities of the young people in her care.

As a parent of two adult children with additional support needs Laura understands many of the challenges faced by parents on the journey  from infancy, through adolescence and onto adult life.

George Finnigan
George FinniganHead of Resource & Strategy
George joined The Donaldson Trust in July 2017 as Head of Resource and Strategy. As a Chartered Management Accountant he worked in a number of finance roles in the electronics, manufacturing and engineering


In 1995 he moved into the oil industry, joining a large US based distributor of oilfield supplies, travelling extensively to Europe and the USA in this customer facing role. In 2003 a career change saw him join a large Scottish charitable organisation as Director of Finance. After 13 enjoyable years he chose to join the team at Donaldson’s in this exciting new role.

George is passionate about equality and lives locally with his wife and youngest son.  He enjoys football, walking and family time.

Elaine Jahanfar
Elaine JahanfarFacilities Manager
Elaine is the ultimate organiser and took up the post of Facilities Manager at Donaldson’s in 2016, leading a team of four staff.
Prior to her role as Facilities Manager Elaine joined Donaldson’s

in 2002 as ICT Manager.  Prior to this she worked in the manufacturing industry, building a long established career in IT.

In 2015 she became a Qualified Chartered Manager with a passion for promoting, enhancing and encouraging best management practice.

Leeanne Brown
Leeanne BrownHR Manager
Leeanne has over 10 years’ experience within HR. Prior to joining Donaldson’s in 2015, she started her HR career within agriculture in 2006 before moving into the legal sector in 2013.

Leeanne has a passion for creating the right culture by putting people at the forefront and developing robust HR systems of work.

She found her HR experience and personal values were a perfect match for Donaldson’s who truly believe in unity, respect, trust, fun and caring for all.

Claire Colvin
Claire ColvinExecutive Assistant
Claire is Executive Assistant to the CEO and Board of Trustees with over 8 years’ experience in the field of administration within The Donaldson Trust.
Claire enthusiastically led the

administration team during her role as Administration Manager and continues to provide support, leadership and guidance to colleagues, the CEO and Board of Trustees in her current role as Executive Assistant.

Claire has gained a level 2 Qualification in British Sign Language and a level 4 Qualification in Management and Leadership. Claire is currently undertaking a HNC in Business to further develop her knowledge and expertise within the business sector.

Kim Murphy
Kim MurphyAdmin Manager
Kim joined Donaldson’s in 2008 as an Office Assistant and has progressed through the years as School Secretary and Senior Admin Assistant to take on her current role as Admin Manager after returning from

maternity leave in April 2017.

Kim is responsible for the Admin Team and is part of the Head Office team as well as working alongside other services within the Trust.

Kim has a HND qualification in Administration & Information Management and continues to develop her skills and knowledge by attending regular training.

Kim has a keen interest in our PCP (Person Centred Planning) approach and believes the process reflects our values as well as focusing on the child/ young person.
