Donaldson's is Scotland's national school for pupils who are deaf or have communication difficulties.
Donaldson's helps many young people who have a wide range of communication difficulties, including deafness, and has a superb track record in helping these young people cope in the outside, hearing world.
Donaldson's believes in 'More Choices, More Chances' and has encapsulated its principles into our very successful Transition Project for young deaf adults aged 16 - 24 years. Since it began in 2007 the project has flourished and indeed won the Herald Society Award for most enterprising project in 2009.
To make sure our students have the best possible start in their post-school life and we work with other agencies, Councils, FE colleges, and organisations such as the Careers Service to support them in every way. Our courses are facilitated by our skilled Transition Co-ordinator Billy Docherty.
The first new project launched on 25th July 2011 with a Healthy Body and Healthy Mind Boot Camp. Other projects include: driving theory and training; creating a DVD on building CVs and attending interviews; creating a DVD on deaf awareness for employers; and Transition Support.
All projects within the Transition Project are free to attend and all applicants must be aged between 16 - 24 and be either deaf or have communication difficulties. For full details on each project and dates please download the Transition Project Application Form from this page (PDF).
If anyone wishes to find out more about future projects they should contact Billy Docherty, Transition Project Co-ordinator by email at wdocherty@donaldsons.org.uk or on 01506 841900 (voice) or 01506 841902 (text)
"The school works very well with partner agencies to help young people transfer between primary and secondary and on to further and higher education."
