Donaldson's is Scotland's national school for pupils who are deaf or have communication difficulties.
Donaldson's offers a range of out of school care. This includes:
We run a breakfast club from 8.15am to 8.45am which offers a great healthy start to the day. This is a good chance for pupils to mix with their friends which can also include those from the residence.
Donaldson's weekly After School Club has spaces available from August 2012. The club is for both Donaldson's pupils and all local primary children aged between 5 and 12.
The after school club offers a structured and fun environment for your child whilst offering parents the reassurance that their child is safe and cared for by our highly experienced team of staff. Children will be collected from school by a member of the club staff and brought to Donaldson's School on Preston Road.
We offer a wide programme of activities including creative workshops, sporting activities, quiet recreational activities and much more. Interested parents and their children are welcome to make an appointment to see the school facilities for themselves.
Available times:
Monday to Thursday - 3.30pm to 6.00pm
Friday - 12.30pm to 6.00pm

Extended Day placements can be suitable for some Donaldson's day pupils. They can visit Donaldson's Lodge, our residential facility, after school and stay with their friends up until 9pm Monday to Thursday.
Staying on after school offers our pupils the opportunity to further develop friendships, to mix with other peers who may be BSL users and also offers them access to use some of the Lodge's fabulous leisure facilities and social activities (as appropriate). Not only does this benefit the children and young people but also has benefits for their parents.
Extended Day placements are subject to approval by the pupil's local authority.
Our summer school is a good way for children and young people to socialise during the holiday and to offer additional support for families. It is open to all pupils from Donaldson's and is run by school staff which ensures a consistency of approach.
Activities are suitable for all ages and include access to our superb facilities such as the swimming pool, sensory room and outdoor spaces. The programme also includes daytrips and visits to the surrounding area.
There is a charge for this service. Please check here for more details nearer the time.
