Donaldson's is Scotland's national school for pupils who are deaf or have communication difficulties.
Donaldson's Nursery caters for children aged between 2½ and 5 years and offers a happy, stimulating and caring environment which promotes learning, celebrates achievement and enables each child to flourish.
Our nursery is open to all local children as Donaldson's has a partnership with West Lothian Council for pre-school placements.
For pre-school children who are deaf or have communication difficulties our unique environment of inclusive communication ensures that they will have optimum support and access to a range of activities, appropriate to their needs. A flexible range of nursery placements are available including full-time and part-time; morning and/or afternoon sessions.
There are two main areas within the nursery, both with a different range of activities and resources. To view both areas in detail please see nursery rooms 1 and 2 on our virtual tour.
Donaldson's Nursery has recently been awarded some of the highest achievable grades by both the HMIe Inspectorate and the Care Commission. It is also used as an example of best practice. Our last Inspection was in November 2010, to see the fabulous results and all other reports please visit our Inspection Reports page.
We believe that all learning and teaching should be active and engaging and we follow the 8 key areas as set out on the new 3-18yrs 'Curriculum for Excellence'.
"The nursery is great and I would recommend it to any parent. Extremely welcoming and friendly staff, great resources my child is learning different skills through lots of opportunities. It is great that he is also learning to sign."
